Site Management - Resource Manager portlet

Overview

You can create pages, labels, and URLs on a source server and publish them to other servers by using the Resource Manager portlet. Once you publish page, you can do additional testing on the target server before promoting the page to all users and groups with the appropriate access rights.

  1. Use any tool of choice to develop and test a portal page on a test server.
  2. Use the Resource Manager portlet to copy the page to a target server for review and later promotion to a live page

For example, the admin of a furniture company portal creates a page for a special sofa promotion on the test portal, and publishes it to the production portal. As the page is published but not yet promoted, it can be viewed by a limited set of users, including the marketing manager and the head of sales. These reviewers can request revisions. The administrator modifies the page on the test server and republishes it to the production portal as many times as necessary. After reviewer approval, on the first day of the sofa promotion, the administrator promotes the page on the production portal for the staff to view. When the promotion period is over, the administrator demotes the page on the production portal. Users can then no longer view the page.

If you have a portal cluster, run enable-http-basic-auth-tai-sitemgmt before you start managing site.
