Integrating with collaboration software
WebSphere Portal integrates with collaboration software to provide you with more effective and cost-efficient ways of accessing information, sharing ideas, communicating and working together. Key software with which WebSphere Portal integrates includes Lotus Domino, IBM Lotus Sametime, and IBM Lotus Quickr.
Collaborative components include Domino and Extended Products, the Domino Integration portlets, and the Lotus Collaborative Services API. The IBM Collaboration Accelerator includes IBM Lotus Sametime, IBM Lotus Quickr, and IBM Lotus Connections. See the product page for more information.
- Collaboration and Messaging portlets
Collaboration and Messaging portlets include Domino and Extended Products Portlets (which rely on Lotus Domino integration), portlets that integrate with products such as IBM Lotus Quickr and IBM Lotus Connections, and portlets that work with third-party software such as Microsoft Exchange. Examples of the Collaboration and Messaging portlets are deployed during installation of the portal. Other portlets are available from the Portal Catalog on the Web.
- Finding users
Use PeopleFinder or Directory Search to locate other WebSphere Portal users. The People Finder portlet appears in the People palette, so that users can find people in any context. Directory Search is available to users as part of a larger task, such as sending mail. Directory Search also enables users to search for user groups in addition to individual users.
- Plan for collaborative servers and portlets
Setting up a site with Lotus Domino Integration requires decisions about user directories, security, authentication, and performance for your suite of Domino and Extended Products servers and software. View some use cases that may help you make decisions leading to a successful Lotus Domino integration.
- Domino-WebSphere Portal Integration wizard overview
The Domino-WebSphere Portal Integration wizard configures your Lotus Domino LDAP and messaging/appservers and your IBM Lotus Sametime server to support messaging and Lotus Sametime portlets (Domino Web Access, Lotus Notes View, Sametime Contact List, and Who Is Here).
- Installing Lotus Domino and the Extended Products
Use this reference to locate installation information specific to your site.
- Integrate Lotus Domino applications and mail
Integrating Lotus Domino mail with WebSphere Portal enables users to manage their e-mail from the portal. You can configure e-mail integration whether you are using the Lotus Domino LDAP server or if you are using a different LDAP server for portal authentication. Regardless of the LDAP that portal uses to authenticate, set up single sign-on. The procedure to configure single-sign is the same for either configuration and is included in this section.
- Integrate with IBM Lotus Sametime
Configuring the Lotus Sametime server and Lotus Sametime portlets requires a set of tasks performed on both the Lotus Sametime server and the portal server.
- Integrate with Lotus Quickr
To integrate IBM Lotus Quickr with WebSphere Portal, enable single sign-on and increase security by preventing anonymous access. Additional steps may be needed if Lotus Quickr and WebSphere Portal use different LDAP servers to authenticate, or if you plan to use the My Places portlet.
- Integrate Lotus Connections
Lotus Connections portlets give WebSphere Portal users access to additional collaboration and social networking features such as Activities, Blogs, and Bookmarks. Users can also view Lotus Connections business card information and link to Lotus Connections features directly from the portal server.
- Collaborative Services environment properties
If your collaborative site requires optional configuration that is not accomplished by the tasks that you run on the WebSphere Portal server to integrate Lotus Domino and the Extended Products, you can modify the operation of the collaborative servers and portlets in various ways by manually editing the Lotus Collaborative Services environment properties file (CSEnvironment.properties) on the WebSphere Portal server.
