Work with authoring templates
Before creating content items, create a set of authoring templates. You use authoring templates to simplify the content creation process by providing default field values for content creators and hiding fields where possible.
- Authoring templates
An authoring template determines the design of a content form, defines what fields and elements appear on a content form and specifies default values for fields and elements.- Creating an authoring template
Create an authoring template to design a content item form and determine what elements can be included in the form.- Change the authoring template for a content item
You can change the authoring template associated with a content item by applying another authoring template to the content item. To accommodate differences between the templates, you can add or remove elements and specify how elements are processed.- Reapplying an updated authoring template
You can reapply changes made to an authoring template to the content items that have been created from the template.- Previewing an authoring template
Preview the authoring template to view how the content form will appear to the user. You can also test any settings that need validation when the form is submitted, such as a valid workflow or required element values.
