Prepare for migration
There are tasks perform to ensure a smooth migration.
- Preparing your previous environment for migration
To ensure a proper migration, clean up your previous environment and apply the appropriate interim fixes.- Preparing your new environment for migration
Prior to starting migration, complete the steps outlined here to prepare the new IBM WebSphere Portal environment.- Sharing JCR domain data
To migrate from IBM WebSphere Portal V6.0.1.1 or V6.0.1.3, connect to a copy of the earlier portal's JCR database domain before running the migration tasks.- Sharing Customization domain data
When migrating from IBM WebSphere Portal V6.0.1.1 or V6.0.1.3, you share the Customization database domain between the earlier portal installation and the new portal installation. To enable sharing, connect to the Customization database domain in the earlier portal installation before you run the migration tasks.- Document migration
As of version 6.1, Document Manager is no longer available in WebSphere Portal. Before migrating your data, replace Web content previously stored as documents in a document library with either file resource components or file resource elements stored in authoring templates, content items, sites or site areas.- Preparing to run the migration tasks
Preparing to run the migration tasks includes tasks such as updating user roles, changing the HTTP server timeout, collecting required files, performance tuning for export and import operations, and stopping and restarting servers.
