Installing Java Communications API from a compressed file
Make sure that the SDK or Runtime Environment is installed before you install the Java™ Communications API.
To install the Java Communications API from a compressed file:
Tasks
- Put the Java Communications API compressed file, ibm-java-javacomm-3.0-0.0-win-<arch>.zip, in the directory where the SDK or Runtime Environment is installed. If you installed to the default directory, this is C:\Program Files\IBM\Java70\. <arch> is either i386 or x86_64, depending on the architecture of your system.
- Extract the compressed file. The Java Communications API is extracted into subdirectories in the existing directory.
- Copy the Java Communications API files into the correct directories in your SDK.
- Copy lib\win32com.dll to your jre\bin\ directory.
- Copy jar\comm.jar to your jre\lib\ext\ directory.
- Copy lib\javax.comm.properties to your jre\lib\ directory.
By default, the SDK is installed in the C:\Program Files\IBM\Java70\ directory.
