Hardware appliance tasks

For the hardware appliance, after you determine where to place the appliance in the network, complete the following tasks.

• Install the network cabling.
• Connect to the local management interface (LMI) or a serial console.
• Configure the initial appliance settings.

• Connecting cables and starting the appliance
  
• Options to configure the hardware appliance
  
• Connecting a serial console to the appliance
  
• Determining the system IP address
