Assign a manager to a user

The next step is to assign a manager to a user.

Log on to ISIM administrative console as itim manager.

Michael Manager is a controller who manages of a team of accountants, among them Ursula User, who is team lead. To do approvals and other management-related activities in ISIM, Michael must first be recognized in the system as the manager of Ursula. Often, this assignment is done ahead of time by an HR system. The data is stored in a user repository such as LDAP, Active Directory, or an identity feed file. This task shows how users can be managed through ISIM interface. The task shows how to define a manager for a user, enabling additional manager-related scenarios.

To assign a manager to a user.

1. Log in to the administrative console as an administrator.

2. Click Manage Users.

3. On the Select a User page:

   1. In the Search information field, type Ursula User, select Full Name in the Search by field and click Search.

   2. In the Users table, click the name of the user Ursula User.

4. On the Personal Information notebook page, click the Business Information tab.

5. On the Business Information notebook page, click the Search button next to Manager.

6. On the Select People page:

   1. Enter Michael Manager in the Value field and click Search.

   2. Select the radio button next to the user Michael Manager and click OK.

7. On the Business Information notebook page, click Submit Now.

8. On the Success page, click Close.

9. On the Select a User page, click Close.
