Web clipping
Overview
Use Web clipping portlets to identify and extract specific portions of a document for display in a portlet. In this way, you can keep those pieces of information that are important, while discarding undesirable information or elements in the document that the client device is incapable of displaying. The Web clipping process simplifies what is being sent to the device, while reducing the amount of data being transmitted - a particularly useful aspect when wireless devices are involved.
Firewalls
Choose one of the following two options if you want to have Web applications accessible to users outside your corporate firewall:
Custom Code Code your own portlets to interface with the applications. Web Clipping portlet Proxy from the perspective of the server. Two current limitations are that the images are not proxied and iframes are not clipped.
The Web Page portlet only works for people inside the firewall because basically it is a browser. The source target for the browser must be addressable from wherever the current user is.
