Administer node agents
Node agents are administrative agents that represent a node within your Network Deployment cell and manage the application servers on that node. Node agents route administrative requests to servers. To configure the node agent's monitoring policy, edit the Monitor policy settings.
A node agent is created automatically when a node is added to a cell.
Note: This feature is available in WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment only.
For help with node agent settings, see Node agent server settings.
For information on administering node agents, see these sections:

To restart a node agent, follow these steps:
- Start the administrative console.
- In the topology tree, expand System Administration and click Node Agents.
- On the Node agents page, select the checkbox for the node agent that you want to restart.
Note: If the node agent does not start, run the startNode command from Qshell and then run the startServer command. After the default node agent for an instance stops running and remains stopped, you cannot restart the node agent from the administrative console page. You must start the default node agent from a command line. For more information about the scripts, see The startNode script and The startServer script.
- Click Restart.
