Administer cluster members

Cluster members represent application servers in a cluster. For descriptions of cluster member properties, see Cluster member settings. Go to Help documentation

Note: The name of a cluster member cannot be used elsewhere in the cell. For example, Cluster1 can have multiple members named server1, but no server in the cell outside of Cluster1 can be named server1. If one or more cluster members in other clusters are named server1, lookups that resolve to an object on a cluster, or a single server involved in the name conflict can fail. It is recommended that you assign a unique name to each cluster member.

For instructions on administering cluster members, see these sections:

Configure cluster members

To create a cluster member, follow these steps:

  1. Start the administrative console.
  2. In the topology tree, expand Servers and click Clusters.
  3. On the Server Cluster page, click the name of the cluster in which you want to create a cluster member.
  4. On the cluster's detail page, click Cluster Members.
  5. On the Cluster Members page, click New.
  6. On the Create New Cluster Members page, type a name for the cluster member.
  7. Select the node on which you want to create the cluster member.
  8. Specify the server weight. The weight value controls the amount of work directed to the application server.
  9. Specify whether to generate unique HTTP ports.
  10. Specify the server template.
  11. Click Apply to finish the cluster member. To create another cluster member, repeat the steps above.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Click Finish.
  14. Save the configuration.

Modify cluster members

To modify a cluster member, follow these steps:

  1. Start the administrative console.
  2. In the topology tree, expand Servers and click Clusters.
  3. On the Clusters page, click the name of the cluster that includes the cluster member you want to modify.
  4. On the cluster's detail page, click Cluster Members.
  5. On the Cluster Members page, click the name of the cluster member that you want to modify.
  6. Make your changes.
  7. Click OK.

Remove cluster members

To remove a cluster member, follow these steps:
