Adding or replacing a hardware feature

 

You might need to change one or more hardware features to satisfy capacity and compatibility requirements before you upgrade to V5R4 and to the new server.

You might need to add more memory, or you might need to replace a tape drive that is not compatible with your target server. The unique requirements of the hardware feature will indicate when you change the hardware feature. Some examples are:

You may need to change more than one hardware feature. If you plan to upgrade both i5/OS and the server, ensure that all your hardware features are compatible with both i5/OS V5R4 and the new server.
