Working with software agreements and licenses

 

This information describes how you and IBM can manage the usage, documentation, and the maintenance of software license information for certain i5/OS® licenses and packaged products.

All System i™ models have i5/OS processor entitlements. On IBM System i models 550, 570, and 595 logical partitions that have i5/OS and additional processor activations, you can use a processor entitlement option that allows minimal use of DB2® UDB for iSeries™.

On IBM System i 9407-515 and 9406-525 models, i5/OS licensing includes both processor entitlements and user entitlements.

A packaged product is a program on your system that was installed by using either the Restore License Program (RSTLICPGM) command or the GO LICPGM menus. A licensed-enabled packaged product uses i5/OS software license management functions.

Notes:

  • You have the option to display or print software agreements.

  • You can display and change software license information required by IBM® usage-based products through the Work with License Information (WRKLICINF) command. Through Management Central you can work with license keys and distribute them across your systems.

  • i5/OS Application Server licensing
    On an assigned logical partition of IBM System i models 550, 570, and 595 that have the IBM i5/OS operating system, you can use an i5/OS Application Server processor entitlement that allows minimal use of DB2 for i5/OS.

  • i5/OS licensing on IBM System i 9407-515 and 9406-525
    On IBM System i 9407-515 and 9406-525, i5/OS licensing consists of two types of entitlements: processor entitlements and user entitlements. Before you use a System i 9407-515 or 9406-525, review this information to understand the concepts, requirements, and procedures that are associated with i5/OS user entitlements.
