Send and install fixes
Use iSeries Navigator to send your i5/OS® fixes to remote systems and install them. You can distribute some or all of the fixes that you receive to a remote system with Management Central. However, have the save files to distribute the fixes. If you receive PTFs on media, you can use the Copy from Media function available from iSeries Navigator to place the save files for the fixes onto your source system. If you already installed the PTFs from media and the Copy PTFs (CPYPTF) service attribute was set to *YES, the save files have already been placed onto your system.
- Copy fixes from media.
- Collect your fixes inventory after you have copied the fixes. Right-click your source system, select Inventory, and then select Collect.
- Select All Fixes, Fix Groups, or a specific product to choose which fix or fix group you want to send and install.
- Follow the wizard's instructions to send and install the selected fixes or fix groups.
When the source system that you are using with the Management Central function has selected the cumulative PTF package fix group, the source system prevents you from attempting certain operations. These Management Central operations include sending fixes, sending and installing fixes, and installing fixes. The source system issues message CPDB7CB. The operation fails.
To find out how you can add fix support on your source system for a product that is installed on a system in your network but not installed on your source system, see Adding fix support for a software product.
