Active Directory

Installing an LDAP server is not part of the default IBM® WebSphere® Portal Express installation, so install, setup, and configure the Microsoft® Active Directory separately. You can install the Active Directory on the same machine as WebSphere Portal Express or you can install it on a remote machine.

  1. Installing Active Directory
    If necessary, use the information in this file to install Microsoft Active Directory so that you can set up and configure Active Directory as the LDAP server for IBM WebSphere Portal Express.

  2. Creating required LDAP users and groups
    Before you can configure IBM WebSphere Portal Express to work with the LDAP server, the LDAP user registry must have some minimal user and group information already populated. This section describes the procedures necessary to set up the LDAP server to work with WebSphere Portal Express.

  3. Setting up Microsoft Active Directory
    Use this information to set up Microsoft Active Directory as your LDAP server.

  4. Disabling global security
    Choose one of the following methods to disable IBM WebSphere Application Server global security.

    You can choose to configure your LDAP to support one-realm (non-realm support) or multiple realms (realm support).

  6. Verifying LDAP
    After setting security with LDAP, use this information to verify that your LDAP server for IBM WebSphere Portal Express has been properly configured.

    Configure your Active Directory over SSL to ensure the confidentiality of the data exchanged between WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Portal Express, and your LDAP user registry.
