Customizing an authoring portlet

While many users will use the standard authoring portlet, you can customize an authoring portlet specifically for content creation. You can also configure IBM® Workplace Web Content Management™ libraries to control user's access to the different sections of the authoring portlet user interface.

Assigning Web content library roles to content authors

The views that a user can access within the authoring portlet is determined by the level of access they have to each item type in a Web content library.

You only assign content authors edit access to the content item type. You may also assign edit access to the component item type if required. You would assign no access to all other item types in a library to hide all other views within the authoring portlet. See Working with libraries for further information.

Create a custom content creation user interface

You can configure an authoring portlet to use a custom launch page instead of the default user interface. See Defining user interface options for further information.

To use this feature for a content authoring system, you would need install and configure a second authoring portlet just for content authors. See Installing the Authoring portlet for further information.

See Creating a custom launch page for further information on creating a custom content creation user interface.
