Add multiple entries using an .ldif file

After the installation of IBM® Telephone Directory V5.2, you may want the application to use certain information from another LDAP directory server.

You can export existing LDAP information from another server to an LDAP data interchange format (.ldif) file and import it into your LDAP directory server. Once the information is in your LDAP directory server, IBM Telephone Directory V5.2 has access to it.

These steps are not applicable for a Domino® LDAP server.

To import an .ldif file to the LDAP directory server, follow these steps:

  1. Determine the server that is exporting LDAP information.

  2. In iSeries™ Navigator, expand Network on the server that is exporting LDAP information.

  3. Expand Servers.

  4. Click TCP/IP.

  5. Right-click Directory and select Tools, then Export File.

If you do not specify a location for the .ldif file to be exported to, it will be saved to the default directory specified in your i5/OS® user profile. If you have not changed your default directory, the default directory is the root directory.

  6. Determine the server that is importing the LDAP information.

  7. If that server's directory server is started, stop it.

  8. In iSeries Navigator, expand Network on the server that is importing LDAP information.

  9. Expand Servers.

  10. Click TCP/IP.

  11. Right-click Directory and select Tools, then Import File.
