Create your shipping charges, and all of the associated information by using the Shipping notebook. Review the following concepts and examples:
- Defining your shipping data
Before using the shipping notebook in the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator, define your shipping data in the shipping framework. After you define your shipping data, we can then enter it in the Shipping notebook.- Defining jurisdictions
Jurisdictions are geographical regions or zones that represent a country, region, province, territory, or ZIP code range in which you sell goods.- Setting the default shipping mode
A default shipping mode is the combination of the shipping carrier, (the company that provides shipping services from a fulfillment center to a customer) and the shipping service offered by that carrier (XYZ Courier, Overnight service is a shipping mode) that is preselected on the store's Checkout pages.- Defining shipping modes
The shipping mode is a way of shipping goods. More specifically, a shipping mode is the combination of a shipping carrier and the shipping service that is offered by that carrier. For example, ABC Shipping Company can have Overnight or Express delivery as their shipping modes.- Defining shipping codes
Shipping codes are used to group shipping charges together. For example, all oversized items could be assigned the same shipping code, Oversized. All fragile items could be assigned the shipping code Fragile. All perishable items could be assigned the shipping code Perishable.- Defining shipping charges
Shipping charges are the monetary amounts that you charge our customers to ship their orders.- Activating and deactivating shipping codes
For a shipping code to be applied to product or categories in an order, it must first be activated.
