Customize e-Marketing Spot behavior
There are a number of customization scenarios supported for e-Marketing Spots on the store pages.
- Adding support for personalized text in an e-Marketing Spot
We can add support for substitution variables by customizing JSP files for store pages that contain e-Marketing Spots. Business users can then personalize the text that customers see displayed in the e-Marketing Spot, for example, by substituting a customer's name into a text string.- Setting up filters to control whether to display marketing information in an e-Marketing Spot
Web activities can recommend catalog entries, categories, and content to customers in an e-Marketing Spot on a store page. Customers viewing the recommendation might not be interested, for example, if they already purchased the catalog entry or if they have the catalog entry in their shopping cart. Or, Marketing Managers might not want to recommend a catalog entry if inventory levels are low. We can set up filters to control whether the server displays the marketing information under certain circumstances. The filter settings apply to all e-Marketing Spots for the store.- Customizing an e-Marketing Spot to display content in a random order
By default, the results returned in an e-Marketing Spot are displayed in the same order as they are defined in the web activities, and sequence of entries in the database. However, we might want the results to be in a different order each time the e-Marketing Spot is viewed. An e-Marketing Spot can be configured to randomize the results displayed. This configuration is done by creating appropriate database entries.
