Deleting promotions and subfolders from a folder

We can improve the organization of the store promotions by deleting promotions or subfolders from parent folders.

We can use Management Center to delete promotions or subfolders from a parent folder.

Before beginning

(Enterprise) If we can delete folders with subfolders and we are working in an asset store, do not delete folders that might contain a subfolder that belongs to an extended site store. If we are using extended sites, ensure that you understand how folders work in extended sites. See Folders in extended sites.

Task info

An administrator can enable the Promotions tool to not display promotions that are in a folder in the main Promotions - List view. When this configuration is enabled, promotions that are in a folder do not display in the list of promotions for the store. When you remove a promotion from a folder and the promotion is not in any other folders, the promotion can display in the main Promotions - List again. When you delete the folder, the promotions that were in that folder and are not in any other folders can display in the main Promotions - List again. See Organizing promotions with folders.

Procedure

1. Open the Promotions tool.

2. In the explorer view, expand Promotions Locate and select the folder containing the subfolder or promotion to delete. The contents of the folder displays in the main work area. Tip: We can view a list of promotions or a list of folders within the folder or directory. Click the

   Show Promotions List or

   Show Promotion Folders List.

3. Right-click the promotion or folder to delete; click Delete.

   • Delete or remove the promotion.

     • A dialog opens. Choose an option:

       Delete

       The promotion is deleted from the folder and from your system.

       Remove

       The reference to the promotion is deleted from the folder. The promotion is not deleted.

     • The reference to the promotion is deleted from the folder. The promotion continues to exist in the promotions list and in any other folders that include the promotion.

   • Delete a folder - If you delete a folder, you delete the folder from your system. If the folder contained promotions, the promotions are deleted from the folder. The promotions continue to exist in your system and in any other folders that include the promotions.

   We can also delete a subfolder from a parent folder within the properties view of the subfolder by removing the folder entry in the Parent Folder table. Removing this entry makes the subfolder a top-level folder.

4. Verify that the promotion or folder no longer displays within the parent folder.
