WebSphere Commerce Developer Update Package overview
Update Packages for WebSphere Commerce Version 9 environments are delivered as compressed .pak archive file that contain new and changed files. Update Packages can include code fixes, security fixes, new features, or enhancements. The following list describes key features of WebSphere Commerce Developer releases:
- Delivered as compressed .pak archives, available from Passport Advantage.
- Each new Update Package is an accumulation of the previous updates plus new fixes and enhancements. For example, WebSphere Commerce Version 9.0.0.3 contains all the functions and fixes from Versions 9.0.0.1 and 9.0.0.2.
- An Update Package is the only mechanism that IBM uses to deliver features and fixes. Interim fixes are not provided.
- IBM intends to release Update Packages monthly, or more frequently if security vulnerabilities are identified. The timing and frequency is not guaranteed and can change without notice at IBM's sole discretion.
- New features, or enhancements to existing features, that could affect custom code are disabled by default.
- Fixes to co-requisite software (WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Liberty) are your responsibility in the WebSphere Commerce Developer environment. Ensure that the co-requisite software programs are at the same level as in the Docker containers of the runtime environment.
To update WebSphere Commerce Developer environments, use IBM Installation Manager to install the new Update Package on top of an existing WebSphere Commerce Developer installation. For more detailed information and steps, review the following topics.
Important: WebSphere Commerce Developer Version 9.0 supports upgrades from any version to version 9.0.1 directly, with the exception of version 9.0.0.8 and 9.0.0.9. If we are on either of these versions, we can upgrade to 9.0.1.1.
