Enable the Cancel button for orders on the Order Details page

To allow shoppers to cancel orders, we can enable the Cancel button on the Order Details page for the Aurora starter store. The enablement steps involve installing interim fixes that contain code required for the Cancel button to function and defining modification rules for order statuses in Sterling Order Management.

Before beginning

  1. Integrate the store with Sterling Order Management Version 9.4 or later.

Task info

The Cancel button is displayed to shoppers on the Order Details page when the order has certain statuses. In Sterling Order Management, we can define modification rules that specify which order statuses allow the Cancel modification type. WebSphere Commerce queries Sterling Order Management to determine whether to display the Cancel button on the page based on the modification rules.

Procedure

In the Applications Manager for Sterling Order Management, define modification rules for the order statuses for which we want to allow the order to be canceled.

Specifically, each status must be set to allow the Cancel modification type at both the line level and the order level.

In the following example screen captures from the Applications Manager, the order statuses with check marks are set to allow the Cancel modification type. As a result, when an order has one of these statuses, the Cancel button is displayed to shoppers on the Order Details page in the Aurora starter store. Your company might choose to allow the Cancel modification type for different order statuses.

By default, the Cancel modification type is allowed for the Draft Order Created, Draft Order Reserved, Created, and Reserved statuses. We must manually allow the Cancel modification type for extra statuses, such as the Released status. Figure 1. Cancel modification type allowed for certain order statuses at the line level
