Configure the security domains

The security domains provide the flexibility to use different security configurations in WebSphere Application Server, such as having WebSphere Portal to be configured to use both administrative security and application security in the Portal cluster, while WebSphere Commerce cluster members can have only administrative security enabled. Configuring the security domains is optional when the security configuration for both WebSphere Commerce and WebSphere Portal are the same. That is, when both administrative security and application security are enabled.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have applied APAR PK87356 for WebSphere Application Server v7.0.0.3 to correct an issue of propagating cache invalidation events across clusters.

Procedure

  1. Copy the global security as a new security domain for WebSphere Portal cluster.

  2. Modify the newly created security domain for the WebSphere Portal cluster by:

    1. Assign the domain to the WebSphere Portal cluster.

    2. Verify Application Security is enabled.

  3. Copy the global security as a new security domain for WebSphere Commerce cluster.

  4. Modify the newly created security domain for the WebSphere Commerce cluster by:

    1. Assign the domain to the WebSphere Commerce cluster.

    2. Verify Application Security is not selected. That is, disable Application Security for the WebSphere Commerce cluster.
See Multiple security domains in the WebSphere Application Server Information Center for more information.
