Migrate > Migrating WebSphere Commerce Developer
Migrate the WebSphere Commerce Developer database
Migrate the development environment database is the first stage of the migration process. You can migrate the WebSphere Commerce Developer v5.6.1 or 6.0 database to the WebSphere Commerce Developer v7.0 level using either the Migration wizard or the command line.
It is strongly recommended to use the Migration wizard to reduce the probability of errors. If you are migrating the production WebSphere Commerce database and are using WebSphere Commerce Developer, migrate the WebSphere Commerce Developer database. If you do not migrate the WebSphere Commerce Developer database, you cannot use that database for development on WebSphere Commerce v7.0.
- Migrate the WebSphere Commerce Developer database using the Migration wizard
To run database migration open the Migration wizard and follow the steps that are presented. The wizard does not automatically backup or restore the database, but does guide you through the process. Once the database back up and restore are completed, the Migration wizard migrates the database.
- Migrate the WebSphere Commerce Developer database using the command line
IBM recommends to use the Migration wizard to perform the WebSphere Commerce Developer database migration. However, you can migrate the database by using the command line-based scripts.
