You should have advanced knowledge of Oracle database (at the DBA level) before changing the database settings as recommended in this documentation.

You can obtain copies of the Oracle database documentation and software from the Oracle Technology Network.

The Oracle database information in this chapter is provided only as a guideline.

You can access Oracle database patches and patch sets at the Oracle Metalink Web page.

Platform Notice

WebSphere Commerce v7.0 supports the following versions of Oracle database:

Use Oracle database 64-bit versions with WebSphere Commerce

To use a 64–bit Oracle server (local or remote) on 64–bit Windows, install a local 32–bit Oracle client in advance and make sure the 32–bit oracle client can connect to the 64–bit Oracle server. You must also ensure that the server's JVM is 32–bit. If the application server's JVM is 32–bit, install a 32–bit Oracle client. If the application server's JVM is 64–bit, install a 64–bit Oracle client.

WebSphere Commerce provides a 32-bit version of WebSphere Application Server and must be installed on a 32-bit operating system or a 64-bit operating system running in 32-bit compatibility mode.

If you use an Oracle database as the WebSphere Commerce database, configure Oracle database before installing WebSphere Commerce.

The Oracle database might require additional filesets or components not installed by a default installation of the operating system. Ensure that you review the Oracle database documentation carefully and install any filesets or components required by Oracle database.
