Configure WebSphere Application Server for use with WebSphere MQ

You can configure WebSphere Application Server for use with WebSphere MQ by determining the maximum number of ManagedConnections for the JCA-JMS connector, creating a WebSphere MQ messaging provider queue connection factory, creating WebSphere MQ messaging provider queue destinations, and configuring advanced properties for JMSQueueConnectionFactory and JMSOutboundQueue.


Procedure

  1. Start the WebSphere Commerce Server.

  2. Open the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console.

  3. Log on to the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console.

  4. Enable the ActivitySession service.

    1. Expand Servers > Server Types. Click WebSphere Application Servers.

    2. Click server1.

    3. Under Container Settings, expand Business Process Services.

    4. Click the ActivitySession service.

    5. Select Enable service at server startup.

    6. Click OK and save the configuration.

  5. Determine the maximum number of connections allowed for the Adapter for WebSphere MQ. Detailed instructions are provided in Determine the maximum number of connections allowed for the Adapter for WebSphere MQ.

  6. Create a WebSphere MQ messaging provider queue connection factory. Detailed instructions are provided in Create a WebSphere MQ messaging provider queue connection factory.

  7. Create WebSphere MQ messaging provider queue destinations. Detailed instructions are provided in Create WebSphere MQ messaging provider queue destinations.

  8. Exit the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console.

  9. Stop the default WebSphere Application Server application server (server1).


What to do next

You must update the work manager thread pool size and the total number of database connections to accommodate the increased maximum number of listener threads. See WebSphere Application Server considerations for more information.
