Create the MyApparelSpot e-Marketing Spot

e-Marketing Spots reserve space on the store pages in which personalized marketing content displays. The e-Marketing Spots are used during page creation to reserve space for the dynamic content that will be shown to the customers.

The responsibility of creating an e-Marketing Spot is shared by the merchant, developer, and media designer. In the context of this tutorial, we will perform all these roles.

To create the MyApparelSpot e-Marketing Spot:


Procedure

  1. In WebSphere Commerce Accelerator, click Marketing > E-Marketing Spots.

  2. Click New.

  3. In the E-Marketing Spot Properties section, enter the following information:

    1. In the Name field, enter MyApparelSpot.

    2. In the Description field, enter This is the e-Marketing Spot for the Snippet tutorial.

    3. In the Specify supported display types section, select Advertisements.

  4. In the Scheduled Web Activities section, click New.

  5. In the Web Activity Properties section, enter the following information:

    1. In the Name field, enter MyApparelWebActivity.

    2. In the Description field, enter This is the Web Activity for the Snippet tutorial.

    3. In the Campaign list, choose No Campaign.

    4. In the Days on which activity displays list, choose Everyday.

  6. In the Web Activity Definition section, enter the following information:

    1. In the Activity type list, select Promotion.

    2. In the Selected promotion list, select MyApparelPromotion.

    3. In the Selected content section, click New.

    4. On the Content Properties page, enter the following information:

      1. In the Name field, enter MyApparelContent.

      2. From the Type list, select Text.

      3. In the Static Text field, enter Select apparel is 25% off!

      4. Click OK.

      5. The message The content was successfully saved displays. Click OK.

    5. In the Available content list, select MyApparelContent and click Add. MyApparelContent moves to the Selected content list.

    6. You can target the advertisement to all customers, or to specific customer segments. In this tutorial, we will target all customer segments. From the Target customers list, select Target all customers.

    7. You can target the advertisement to different customer behaviors. In this tutorial, we will target customers whose shopping cart does not contain any items in the SaleActivewear nor SalePants categories.

      1. From the Target customer behaviors list, select Current shopping cart does not contain category.

      2. In the Category field, enter SaleActivewear. Click Add.

      3. In the Category field, enter SalePants. Click Add.

  7. Click OK. The message The web activity was successfully saved displays. Click OK.

  8. On the E-MarketingSpot Properties page, the new MyApparelWebActivity Web activity displays. Click OK.

  9. The message The E-Marketing Spot was successfully saved displays. Click OK.
