Set up Value Added Tax (VAT) configurations

Additional configurations are required to set up VAT besides the default tax settings. You can also use the tax tool in Websphere Commerce Accelerator to configure VAT.

Procedure

  1. Verify the store profile for the store that you are using is set to the correct jurisdiction.

    1. Open the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.

    2. From the Store menu, select Change Profile.

    3. The Store Profile notebook opens. If you do not see this menu, then the logon ID does not have the appropriate authority to perform this task. Contact the Site Administrator.

    4. From the left navigation frame, click Contact. Verify the address information for the store corresponds to the jurisdiction for which to display taxes.

    5. From the left navigation frame, click Location. Verify the address information for the store corresponds to the jurisdiction for which to display taxes.

  2. Register the store's default fulfillment center. Add the default fulfillment center's ID into STORE. FFMCENTER_ID using SQL.

  3. Set up taxes at a store-level using WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.

  4. Assign different tax codes to different products.

For example, to set up VAT rates of 13% for food products and 15% for electronics, you can define two sales tax codes using WebSphere Commerce Accelerator's tax tool. You can assign the food and electronics product categories to the two new sales tax codes.
