Start and stop an application server from a Windows command prompt

Start an application server starts both the application server and any applications that run inside the application server.


Procedure

  1. Log on using a Windows user ID with Administrator authority.

  2. Start a command prompt session.

  3. Choose one of the following depending on the type of application server:

    • To start and stop an application server in the command prompt session:

      • Switch directories to WC_PROFILE\bin.

      • Issue one of the following commands:

        • To start an application server:

          startServer server1
          

        • To stop an application server:

          stopServer server1
          

    • To start or stop the WAS ND deployment manager:

      • Switch directories to WAS_ND_profiledir\bin.

      • Issue one of the following commands:

        • To start the deployment manager:

          startManager
          

        • To stop the deployment manager:

          stopManager
          

  4. Check the application server log files to ensure that the application server and the applications running inside the application server started or stopped without error.

  5. Starting the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console. Select the appropriate link from the left pane based on the version of WebSphere Application Server.

  6. Start the WebSphere Commerce Information Center. The WebSphere Commerce Information Center must be started in order to provide help when using the WebSphere Commerce tools such as WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.

  7. If WebSphere Commerce Payments is not already started, start it after starting WebSphere Commerce.
