Start and stop the WebSphere Commerce Information Center
To access the information center for the WebSphere Commerce environment, ensure the help server is active.
Before you begin
- If you specify a port other than 8001, change the port used for context-sensitive help in the WebSphere Commerce tools in Configuration Manager. If the port used for context-sensitive help in the WebSphere Commerce tools does not match the port number on which you started the information center, we will not be able to access context-sensitive help in the WebSphere Commerce tools, such as the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.
- You will still be able to access all of the online help in the information center using the information center URL.
Procedure
- Do one of the following tasks:
- Using the non-root user, start a command line session.
- Start a command prompt session.
- Start a QShell session.
- Do one of the following tasks:
- To start the WebSphere Commerce Information Center, issue one of the following commands:
- WC_INSTALL/bin/startHelp.sh [port]
- WC_INSTALL/bin/startHelp.bat [port]
The WebSphere Commerce Information Center can also be started and stopped from the Services panel by starting or stopping the following service: IBM WC 7.0 Help Server
If you start the WebSphere Commerce Information Center from the Services panel, you cannot change the port the WebSphere Commerce Information Center uses. The WebSphere Commerce Information Center will use port 8001.
The IBM WC 7.0 Help Serverservice uses port 8001 and the port cannot be changed.
To use a different port for the WebSphere Commerce Information Center, start the information center using the startHelp utility.
Where port is an optional parameter. If you do not specify the port number, the WebSphere Commerce Information Center uses port 8001.
- To stop the WebSphere Commerce Information Center, issue one of the following commands:
- WC_INSTALL/bin/stopHelp.sh
- WC_INSTALL/bin/stopHelp.bat
- Changing the port used for context-sensitive help in the WebSphere Commerce tools
To use a port, other than 8001, for the help server, review these instructions to successfully change the port within the Configuration Manager.
