Customizing WebSphere Commerce Analyzer
WebSphere Commerce Analyzer is a fully customizable system in which users can enhance the data mart with new tables and columns, add new extract, transform, and load (ETL) steps to the process, or change key WebSphere Commerce Analyzer parameters. For example, WebSphere Commerce Analyzer replicates data from a default set of tables. If you add new tables to WebSphere Commerce or change existing ones you may need to customize WebSphere Commerce Analyzer to replicate, extract, transform and load the new data. Replication, ETL, and reports can be customized.
You can customize WebSphere Commerce Analyzer by adding new reports and adding additional steps to the ETL process. However, if you change the existing reports, data mart and ETL steps, you may get unexpected results. These changes will be lost during upgrades to a new version of WebSphere Commerce Analyzer.
Customization includes:
- Add new WebSphere Commerce Analyzer generated reports
- Add columns to or increasing the column sizes of WebSphere Commerce Analyzer data mart tables
- Add new rows to the WebSphere Commerce Analyzer schema tables
- Altering SQL queries to enhance existing reports
- Changing extraction steps to extract and transform WebSphere Commerce Analyzer data mart tables
Before attempting to make any customization changes, you should have knowledge of the following:
- WebSphere Commerce
- DB2 or Oracle
- The WebSphere Commerce Analyzer extract, transform, and load processes
- DB2 replication
Customizations are not saved when upgrading to a newer version of WebSphere Commerce Analyzer. Ensure any customizations are well documented as they must be re-implemented after upgrading.
