Category Manager information roadmap
The Category Manager manages the category hierarchy by creating, modifying, and deleting categories. The category hierarchy organizes products or services offered by the store. The Category Manager also manages products, expected inventory records, vendor information, inventory, and return reasons.
The Category Manager uses the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator to perform these tasks:
Merchandise management
- Manage auctions
- Find, list, create, change, and retract auctions
- List, create, and change auction styles
- List, create, change, and delete bid control rules
- Close the bidding for auctions
- List and withdraw bids for customers
- Manage products
- Find and list catalog entries
- Change catalog entry types, such as products, SKUs, bundles and kits
- Find, list, create, and change merchandising associations (such as up-sells or cross-sells)
- Find and list expected inventory records
- Find and list product vendors
- Manage catalogs
- Work with sales catalogs
- Import a catalog
- Manage discounts
- Find, list, create, and change categories
- Find and list categories
- Use Product Advisor
- Set up the catalog in such a way that customers find the products they need, including exploring the catalog, comparing products, and using question and answers to narrow down shopping options
- View Product Advisor statistics
Order management
- Work with order management reports
- Run operational reports
- Run inventory reports
- Create, change, and delete return reasons
- Create, change, and delete inventory adjustment codes
Business intelligence
- Request and view business intelligence reports. Many of the business reports are generated by WebSphere Commerce Analyzer.
- Participate in asynchronous collaborative business discussions
Marketing
- Manage promotions:
- List, create, and delete promotions
- View a summary of each promotion
- Activate and deactivate promotions
