Buyer (Sell-Side) information roadmap
The Buyer from the selling organization is the primary contact with vendors. The Buyer handles negotiations and ordering from vendors keeps track of inventory. The Buyer also makes purchase order decisions and tracks expected inventory records and receipts tracks reasons for returns.
The Buyer uses the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator to perform the following tasks:
Marketing
- Manage promotions
- List, create, and delete promotions
- View a summary of each promotion
- Activate and deactivate promotions
Merchandise management
- Vendors
- Find, list, create, change and delete vendor records
- Manage products
- Find and list catalog entries
- Change catalog entry types, such as products, SKUs, bundles and kits
- Find, list, create, and change merchandising associations (such as up-sells or cross-sells)
- Use Product Advisor
- Help customers find the products they need, including exploring the catalog, comparing products, and using question and answers to narrow down shopping options
- View Product Advisor statistics
- Manage auctions
- Find, list, create, change, and retract auctions
- List, create, and change auction styles
- List, create, change, and delete bid control rules
- Close the bidding for auctions
- List and withdraw bids for customers
Order management
- Request and view business intelligence reports. Many of the business reports are generated by WebSphere Commerce Analyzer. WebSphere Commerce Analyzer is an additional software product provided with WebSphere Commerce.

- Manage inventory
- List expected inventory records
- Find and list inventory
- Track inventory and shipments
- Run inventory reports
Business intelligence
- Request and view business intelligence reports. Many of the business reports are generated by WebSphere Commerce Analyzer.
Customer service
- Participate in asynchronous collaborative business discussions in the form of workspaces using Lotus QuickPlace
