Process: Manage product life cycle
Flow
Objective
Describe the states of the life cycle of a product from when it is introduced, available for sale, updated, and finally discontinued and withdrawn.
Description
Customers plan for the introduction and discontinuation of products within the catalog. A product may potentially go through several different phases within its lifetime:
- Create and announce the new product.
- Make the product available for sale.
- Update product attributes with new information and enhancements.
- Manage product inventory.
- Discontinue a product and announce a replacement.
- Withdraw a product for sale.
Through each phase, the Product Manager must decide on the behavior of that product on the site.
