Create bootstrap entries for the directory server
To create the bootstrap entries for the directory server, do the following steps on the IBM i5/OS Directory Services machine:
- Start the directory management tool.
- Issue the following command from an i5/OS command line: STRTCPSVR *DIRSRV
- Complete the following steps from a Windows machine:
- Start the IBM Directory Server, Directory Management Tool.
- Click Add Server and specify the host name of the i5/OS machine that IBM i5/OS Directory Services is installed on.
- Select Simple as the Authentication type.
- Specify the user DN and password.
- Click OK.
- Click Add Server.
- Specify the user DN and password. Click OK.
You might encounter a "There is data for o=root organization." error. This error can be safely ignored.
- Select ldap:// host_name:389 and click the Add button. Where host_name is the fully qualified host name of the i5/OS machine that is running IBM i5/OS Directory Services.
- Select Organization in the Entry Type field.
- In the RDN field, enter o=root organization and click OK.
- Click Add to apply the changes.
- Select o=root organization and click the Add button.
- Select Organization in the Entry Type field.
- In the ParentDN field, enter o=root organization.
- In the EntryDN field, enter o=default organization and click OK.
- Click Add to apply the changes.
- Select o=root organization and click the Add button.
- The directory tree should refresh to reflect the changes. If it does not automatically update, refresh the directory tree manually.
