Troubleshoot: Installation of WAS displays a timeout message
When installing WAS, a timeout message might occur. Review this information to resolve the issue.
Problem
A timeout message box is displayed during the install of WAS. The timeout occurs if the installation of WAS takes longer than expected.
Solution
When you encounter the timeout message, keep the message box open and complete the following steps:
- Open the following file:
I5/OS|/tmp/InstallShield/log.txt
AIX|Linux|Solaris|/tmp/log.txt
Windows:
drive:\Documents and Settings\ user_ID\Local Settings\Temp\log.txt
- Near the end of the file the a message is displayed. The message should be similar to the following example
ISMP LAUNCH CONFIG MANAGER (support) : Running remote command: QSYS/STRQSH CMDThis message indicates that WAS is creating the default profile.
I5/OS|Refresh the log.txt file periodically. When the default profiles have been created, no additional messages will be logged.
AIX|Linux|Solaris|Windows:
Refresh the log.txt file periodically and ensure the log file is updated by the WAS silent installation.
- Depending on the message recorded in the log file, complete one of the following steps:
- If the WAS installation has completed properly, the following message will be logged
INSTCONFSUCCESSReturn to the timeout message box and click the Yes button to continue with the installation of WebSphere Commerce.
- If the WAS installation has failed, one of the following message will be logged
INSTCONFPARTIALSUCCESS INSTCONFFAILReturn to the timeout message box and click the No button to cancel the installation of WebSphere Commerce.
