View thumbnail images of files in the community
Use the thumbnail file view to view images of files, such as a photo, a video, or the first page of an office file. Hover over a thumbnail image to find available actions such as download or preview.
In any file listing, we can show thumbnails in a grid format. Thumbnail images are small images that represent the file in the view.
- A photo or image displays scaled to fit the thumbnail.
- A video displays the thumbnail that was uploaded for it.
To add a thumbnail to a video, navigate to the files details page for the video, select More Actions > Change Thumbnail.
- An office file displays the first page of the document.
- Other types display a file type icon.
The Gallery widget and the grid view include the ability to Preview a file. Preview is a pop-up that appears when we click a file. Preview displays a larger thumbnail.
Perform the following tasks to view community files in Grid view.
- To view files in Grid view, click the Show thumbnails in grid format Icon.
- To view file details and available actions, hover over a file thumbnail. The thumbnail transitions to show details such as who last updated the file and when.
- To download and open the file, click the Download Icon.
- To view a file, click the back of the thumbnail or the Preview/View icon.
- To view file information, click the file name or the View file details Icon.
- To pin a file, click the Pin Icon.
- To select a file, click the check box.
Perform the following tasks to view community files in a Preview popup.
- To Preview files from the grid view, click the back of the thumbnail or the Preview Icon.
- We can navigate to next and previous previews of files in the view we are in. We can also go directly to file details from the preview pop-up.
- To Preview files from the File information page, click Preview. You see only a preview of the file you were on.
