Change WAS environment variables

The directory paths to Connections application data and other resources are given associated WAS environment variables. If we change default paths in the environment, update the variables.

If, for example, you decide to move the directory associated with an application, such as the index directory for Bookmarks, to a different system driver, we can do so, but also update the environment variable defined for the Bookmarks index directory in WebSphere Application Server. The application configuration files that define the behavior of the applications reference the directory paths using these environment variables.

  1. Use an administrator ID to log into the WAS Integrated Console associated with the profile to which you installed IBM Connections. If we installed the applications to multiple WAS profiles, log into the console associated with the appropriate profile.

  2. Expand Environment, and then click WebSphere Variables.

  3. Find the environment variable to change and edit it from the list.

  4. Save and apply the changes, and then restart the server.
