(ZOS) ORB service transport channel settings

View and configure an Object Request Broker (ORB) Service transport channels. This type of transport channel handles CORBA and RMI/IIOP inbound messages for the ORB Service. It enables clients to make requests and receive responses from servers in a network-distributed environment.

By default, two channel transport chains are defined for an application server containing an ORB Service channel:

Both of these chains terminate in, or use the same TCP channel instance. This TCP channel is associated with the IIOP port and is not used in any other transport chain. One instance of an SSL channel is reserved for use in the DCS-Secure chain. It also is not used in any other transport chains.

From the admin console, click...

Transport channel name

Name of the ORB service transport channel.

The name field cannot contain the following characters: # \ / , : ; " * ? < > | = + & % '

This name must be unique across all channels in the product environment. For example, an ORB service transport channel and a TCP transport channel cannot have the same name if they reside within the same system.

Discrimination weight

Priority this channel has in relation to the other channels in this transport chain. This property is only used when port sharing is enabled and the transport chain includes multiple channels to which it might forward data. The channel in the chain with the lowest discrimination weight is the first one given the opportunity to look at incoming data and determine whether or not it owns that data.
