Monitor performance with IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WAS

IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Applications is an optional component that provides response time and CPU usage statistics for WAS applications. We can view this data in the Tivoli Performance Viewer console in WAS.

ITCAM for WAS support for WAS 8.5 is available for download in Integrated Service Management Library.

The ITCAM for WAS component is composed of a data collector. This data collector is referred to as the ITCAM Data Collector for WebSphere.

Configure the data collector to a WAS instance. The data collector then runs within the same JVM as the application server and captures information about the running applications. When we configure the data collector, a new Performance Monitoring Infrastructure (PMI) module is created in the application server. The data that ITCAM for WAS provides augments the data provided by the application server through the existing PMI statistics.

The ITCAM Data Collector for WebSphere can integrate with IBM SmartCloud Application Performance Management capabilities to allow us to:

• Track transactions for quick problem isolation.
• Monitor SOA environments to understand the performance of web services.

• Perform operational monitoring of products such as; WAS, IBM Business Process Manager, and WebSphere Portal.

• Use deep diagnostic functionality available in ITCAM for Application Diagnostics.

• Install IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere Application Server
• Start IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WAS
• Enable ITCAM for WAS counters.
• View ITCAM for WAS performance data.
