Determining the proper cumulative PTF level on IBM i

WebSphere Application Server for IBM i was tested with a specific cumulative PTF package. Ensure that we have the same cumulative PTF package or newer applied to the system before using WAS for IBM i.

Check the cumulative PTF package level applied to the system. If it is not at the minimum required level, order and apply the currently available cumulative PTF package.

Perform this task to gather the needed information about the cumulative PTF level applied to the system.

Tasks

  1. Determine the prerequisite cumulative PTF package level for the version of WAS that we plan to install.

    1. Go to the PTF Groups by Release page.

    2. Expand the release level for our operating system, then select your version of WAS.

    3. Find and make note of the cumulative PTF package that must be applied.

  2. Determine if the correct operating system cumulative PTF package is installed on the server.

    1. Sign onto the server.

    2. Enter the Display PTF Status (DSPPTF) command on a CL command line. The Display PTF Status screen is displayed. This screen lists the PTFs applied to the server.

The following example shows the Display PTF status screen on V7R2:
