Configure an HTTP server instance on IBM i
Configure the IBM HTTP Server or Lotus Notes Domino HTTP Server to use either web server with WebSphere Application Server for IBM i.
Decide which HTTP Server we want to use to serve requests to WAS.
The following web servers are supported on IBM i:
- IBM HTTP Server (powered by Apache) (5761-DG1 or 5770-DG1)
- Lotus Domino 8 for System i 8.0 (5733-LD8), versions 8.0.1 and 8.0.2
- IBM Domino 8.5 for i (5733-L85)
The IBM HTTP Server (original) is not supported for WAS. However, we can use the IBM i IBM HTTP Server (Powered by Apache) with the application server. Or, we can configure a remote HTTP server residing on a supported platform to route requests to WAS running on the IBM i server. Review the Select a web server topology diagram and roadmap article for guidance.
An HTTP server instance is not required to install or use WAS. However, IBM recommends to support requests for servlets and JSP resources managed by WAS.
