Remove enterprise files
After a file is no longer needed, we can remove the file from a Java EE application or module deployed on a server.
This topic assumes that we have installed an application or module file on a server and to delete the file.
Remove a file deletes the file from the product configuration repository and deletes the file from the file system of all nodes where the file is installed.
We can use the console to remove a file from an application or module.
- Remove a file from an application.
- Go to the Enterprise applications page.
Click Applications > Application Types > WebSphere enterprise applications in the console navigation tree.
- Select the application containing a file we want removed.
- Click Remove File. The Remove a file page is displayed
- Select the URI of the file we want removed from the application.
- Back up the application.
Under Export before removing file, select the application name and then specify the location to which we want the file exported.
- Click OK to remove the file.
- Remove a file from a module.
- Go to the Manage modules page.
Click Applications > Application Types > WebSphere enterprise applications > application_name > Manage modules in the console navigation tree.
- Select the module from which to delete a file.
- Click Remove File. The Remove a file from a module page is displayed.
- Select the URI of the file we want removed from the module.
- Back up the application.
Under Export before removing file, select the application name and then specify the location to which we want the file exported.
- Click OK to remove the file.
Results
The file is exported to the designated location and removed from the application or module. The application or stand-alone Web module that had a file removed is restarted so the changes take effect.
What to do next
If the application or module is deployed on a cluster and we have no more configuration changes to make, click Rollout Update on the Enterprise applications page to propagate the changed configuration on all cluster members of the cluster on which the application or module is deployed. Rollout Update sequentially updates the configuration on the nodes containing cluster members.
Save the changes to the administrative configuration.
On single-server products, application binaries are deleted after you save the changes.
On multiple-server products, application binaries are deleted when configuration changes on the deployment manager synchronize with configurations for individual nodes.
