Creating and installing an IIP
Use the IBM® Installation Factory for WebSphere® Extended Deployment to create and install an integrated installation package (IIP). An IIP combines one or more installation packages into a single installation workflow that you design. Using the IBM Installation Factory for WebSphere Extended Deployment, specify the details of an IIP in the build definition file, which is then used to generate the customized package.
Before you begin
You must complete the following steps before you can create and install an IIP:
- Download the IBM Installation Factory for WebSphere Application Server from the Installation Factory for WebSphere Application Server Web site.
- Download the IBM Installation Factory for WebSphere Extended Deployment. See the Installation Factory for WebSphere Extended Deployment Web site for more information.
About this task
An IIP can include one or more generally available installation packages, one or more customized installation packages (CIPs), and other optional files and directories. Create an IIP to aggregate multiple installation packages, or contributions, into a single package, and install the contributions one after the other in a specific order to complete an end-to-end installation.
Procedure
- Specify in the build definition file how to build and customize the IIP. See Creating a build definition file and generating an IIP for more information.
- Install the IIP. You can use the installation wizard, or complete a silent installation. See Installing an IIP for more information.
- Modify the build definition file to add additional or edit existing properties of an IIP to further customize the installation. See Modifying an existing build definition file for an IIP for more information.
