Installing an LDAP server is not part of the default IBM WebSphere Portal installation, so install, setup, and configure the IBM SecureWaySecurity Server for z/OSand OS/390 separately. We can install the SecureWay Security Server on the same machine as WebSphere Portal or we can install it on a remote machine.

1. Installing IBM SecureWay Security Server for z/OS and OS/390
   If necessary, use the information in this file to install IBM SecureWay Security Server for z/OS and OS/390 so that we can set up and configure SecureWay Security Server as the LDAP server for IBM WebSphere Portal.

2. Creating required LDAP users and groups
   Before we can configure IBM WebSphere Portal to work with the LDAP server, the LDAP user registry must have some minimal user and group information already populated. This section describes the procedures necessary to set up the LDAP server to work with WebSphere Portal.

3. Setting up IBM SecureWay Security Server for z/OS and OS/390
   Use this information to set up SecureWay Security Server as the LDAP server.

4. Disable WAS global security
   If WAS global security is enabled, disable it before modifying the security configuration.

5. Configuring IBM SecureWay Security Server for z/OS and OS/390
   We can choose to configure the LDAP to support one-realm (non-realm support) or multiple realms (realm support).

6. Verifying LDAP
   After setting security with LDAP, use this information to verify that the LDAP server for WebSphere Portal has been properly configured.

7. Setting up LDAP over SSL with IBM SecureWay Security Server for z/OS and OS/390
   Configure the SecureWay Security Server over SSL to ensure the confidentiality of the data exchanged between WAS, WebSphere Portal, and the LDAP user registry.
