Use DCOMCNFG.EXE to change access permissions
To start DCOMCNFG.EXE on Windows 2000:
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- Type dcomcnfg in the open input field.
- Click OK.
To start DCOMCNFG.EXE on Windows XP or Windows 2003:
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- Type dcomcnfg in the open input field.
- Click OK. The Component Services Window opens.
- Expand Component services.
- Expand Computers.
- Expand My Computer.
- Click the DCOM Config node.
A list of applications is displayed. From this list:
- Find and highlight the IBM MQSeries Services entry.
- On Windows 2000 click Properties.
On Windows XP or Windows 2003, right-click IBM MQSeries Services, then click Properties.
This displays information about the location of the DCOM server (AMQMSRVN.EXE), together with its identity and security properties.
- Select the Security page to view or modify the launch, access, or configuration permissions.
- Stop and restart the IBM MQSeries service from the Windows Services control panel for your changes to take effect. (If your changes affect a user who is currently logged on, that user must log off and on again). Do the following:
- Open the control panel.
- Double-click Administrative Tools. The Administrative Tools panel opens.
- Double-click Computer Management. The Computer Management panel opens.
- Expand Services and Applications.
- Select Services. A list of services is displayed.
- Right-click IBM MQSeries, and select Properties. The IBM MQSeries Properties pages is displayed.
- Click Stop. The IBM MQSeries service stops.
- Click Start. The IBM MQSeries service restarts.
In addition to being able to add to the list of users that are allowed access to a service, we can deny access to specific users and groups. This means that we can grant access to a group of users (by specifying a group name) but deny access to individuals within that group.
