Queue manager aliases

An alias is the process by which the name of the target queue manager, as specified in a message, is modified by a queue manager on the message route. Queue manager aliases are important because we can use them to control the destination of messages within a network of queue managers.

You do this by altering the remote queue definition on the queue manager at the point of control. The sending application is not aware that the queue manager name specified is an alias.

For more information about queue manager aliases, see WebSphere MQ Intercommunications.
