Deploy the business process application
Follow these steps to deploy all of the components of a business process application into a production portal environment.
- Determine the type of production environment
- Setup the task page definitions
- Deploy the task processing portlet and all supporting portlets
- Deploy the process to the business process container
Determine the type of production environment
Determine the type of production environment which will be used for business process applications.
- Single node with WebSphere Portal configured to the WebSphere_Portal appserver and WebSphere Process Choreographer configured to the server1 application server. This configuration is provided by the default WebSphere Portal installation as described in the installation scenarios.
- WebSphere Portal cluster and a WebSphere Process Choreographer cluster. You should use WebSphere MQ messaging rather than the Embedded Messaging provided by WebSphere Application Server. In this case, configure the business process container as described in the WebSphere Application Server Information Center. See Configure the business process container for portal.
Deploy the task processing portlet and all supporting portlets
Install the task portlets and place them on the task page using either the portal administrative interface or the XML configuration interface. If you are deploying the business process into a cluster, the task portlets must be deployed to the same task page definition on each node in the cluster.
Setup the task page definitions
See Defining the task page for complete information. If you are deploying the business process into a cluster, make sure you setup the same task page definition on each node in the cluster.
Deploy the process to the business process container
After a business process is defined in the tooling, an EAR file is created that can be deployed into the business process container running on an appserver. This can be done using the WAS admin console or a script. For detailed information, see the topic, Install BPEL-based process applications in the Information Center for WebSphere Business Integration Server Foundation.
In the Automatically create database tables for Business Process entity beans step, check the Create tables checkbox.
Uninstalling the business process
Care must be taken when uninstalling the business process. follow these steps in the order provided to avoid subsequent failures with stopping or uninstalling the process.
- Delete all process instances.
- Stop all process templates. From the appserver's administrative console, select the process application and navigate to EJB modules
Business Processes.
- Stop the process application.
- Uninstall the process application.
- Save your changes.
