Define the task page
Overview
A task page definition is required for each activity, or task, that requires human interaction. The task page definition contains the task processing portlet and any other portlets that are required to process the work that is associated with the task. When a user opens a task for processing, an instance of that page definition is dynamically created and added under the page container for open tasks.
During installation, WebSphere Portal creates the Task page definitions page. This is a level 1, hidden node that contains task page definitions. Use this node or create your own. With either choice, you always have the option to move your task page definitions to a new container at a later time.
Create task page definitions
Task page definitions are standard portal pages that are created and administered using Manage Pages. Before you start, you will need the unique Client UI identifier of the task that will be used to launch the page. This is described in Create the process. To create a task page definition, follow these steps.
- Open Manage Pages and create a page under the parent page for task page definitions. If the task processing portlet has already been developed and deployed, add that portlet to the page. If not, add the portlet before you can test the integrated business process.
- Open Custom Unique Names and enter the unique name of the task page definition. For this value, use the unique Client UI identifier of the task that will be used to launch the page.
If you are using multiple virtual portals, the appropriate task page definitions must also be available in each virtual portal with the same unique page name. Otherwise, users will get an error when opening a task for processing.
