Text, Rich Text and HTML Components
Overview
These Components are all used to store blocks of text, but each has slightly different properties.
Text Components
A Text Component can be used to save text or HTML as a Component. No special processing occurs for this component. The text that the component stores is simply placed in the location required in the web page. This is useful if you have a piece of text or HTML that is used in more than one area of your site.
Rich Text Components
A Rich Text Component is the same as a Text Component except that it can also accept Web Content Management component tags. By referencing more than one component, a Rich Text Component can be used to combine a group of Components into a single Component.
The Rich Text Component includes a rich text editor that can be used to format text stored within a Rich Text Component.
HTML Components
A HTML Component is similar to the Rich Text Component but does not include a Rich Text editor. HTML can be entered directly into the component or uploaded from a previously created HTML file.
Both Text and Rich Text Components are also used to store "Connect" tags that can be used for data aggregation and Custom Caching. Any Presentation Template used to display Components that include "Connect" tags must have "Process Connect Tags" selected.
HTML can be imported from HTML files created in other programs to Rich Text and HTML Components.
