Access the Authoring Portlet
An IWWCM portal tab and Authoring Portlet are created when IWWCM is installed. enter a valid user name and password to access the Authoring Portlet.
Access to the different views within the Authoring Portlet are determined by the access levels set for the user you log onto WebSphere Portal with. The Item Security access level set for a user on individual IWWCM items determines access to items within each view.
Authoring Portlet Access
When first installed, only members of the wcmadmins group have access to the IWWCM tab and Authoring Portlet.
Java Applets
The first time you use the IWWCM system you will, at some point, be asked to authorize a Java Applet. Click Grant Always and this dialog will no longer display.
Browser Sessions
It is possible to open the Authoring Portlet in more than one browser at the same time. The user session of the Authoring Portlets will be determined by the browser you are using.
For example, if you open an Authoring Portlet in Mozilla as an ordinary user, and then open a second Authoring Portlet but login as Administrator, the first portlet will use the Administrator's session. This means that although a different user was used to logon to the first Authoring Portlet, they will have administration access to the Authoring portlet.
For example, if you open an Authoring Portlet in Internet Explorer and logon as an Administrator and then click new window, you can open a second Authoring Portlet. You will not need to logon to the second Authoring Portlet as it will be using the same session as the original Authoring Portlet. If you open a second instance of Internet Explorer, you can open a third Authoring Portlet and logon as a different user as this will be a different session.
Locale Consistency
The language displayed in the IWWCM Authoring and Rendering Portlets is determined by the region or locale of the User. There are, however, some elements of the Authoring and Rendering Portlets that use WebSphere Portal functions, such as date selection fields. These will be displayed using the locale of the WebSphere Portal server. For this reason, the language and locales of the Site being created, the client and server should be consistent.
If your Site contains content in different languages, then a separate IWWCM authoring applications should be setup for each language on different WebSphere Portal Servers. These can then be combined into one Site using a Staging Server.
